Paypal Wallet confirmation code timescale.

I have power of attorney over my mother's financial affairs and have found that a British Gas DD has somehow got transferred from her sole Santander 123 to the joint 123 a/c she holds with me (BG changed a payment schedule, possibly back to the account it previously came from). I think she may be missing a DD set up for this month (which is 2 April-1May). On Thuursday I tried to set up a DD to her Paypal a/c but it said wait 2-3 working days for 2 amounts (of less than a pound) each to arrive in the donor a/c (this acts as a 4 digit code for authorization purposes). I don't have internet access to her Santander accounts yet, and she's too poor on the phone to converse about this. The odd thing is that I've just registered our joint a/c with Paypal and it's showing as confirmed within minutes; it's let me schedule a DD for 29 April (which I don't need for the joint a/c), without any apparent authorization at Santander's end. Should I cancel the application for linking the sole a/c on her Paypal and reapply tonight in the hope of getting an instant acceptance, or would this be too risky?
