Poorly or just greedy cat?

Our 10 year old cat is constantly hungry. All the time. He can eat a sachet of food in minutes and starts crying for more as soon as it's finished.

He has lost some weight bit doesn't appear unwell. Coat is shiny, he isn't in distress and is weeing and pooing regularly in our patch of garden that he likes.

He is regularly wormed.

Should I be worried about the weight loss?

It might be good idea to take him to the vet.My cat of 16 was eating all the time and losing weight.After blood tests it showed she had an over active thyroid.

My tabby cat is the same. She is hooked on dry food although I am trying to wean her onto wet food. She is only 16 months old and is overweight. She cries so pitifully for biscuits that I give in sometimes. Maybe you should try a cat food very high in protein with no carbs. That is what I am trying to do but she won't eat anything but fish based foods. Its almost like she has binge eating disorder where biscuits are concerned.

Older cats can get diabetes and thyroid problems. I would take them to the vet for a check up just in case.
