Problem regarding finding a cooker hood.

I'm sticking a range cooker in an old fireplace recess. The recess is just over 100cms by 45cms in depth. The problem I have is that two lintels have been put into the roof of the recess. The range hoods I've seen have the bit coming out of the top which often houses the motor and looks like a chimney pipe if you know what I mean. There isn't room for this to fit up into the chimney. How can I work around this? Anybody have any ideas? Thank you.

Not 100% sure what you mean do the lintels completely block above You could measure the distance required from wall and get one that the extraction point is within (X)
e.g
(a) first lintel, 0mm - 150mm from wall,
(b) empty space,150mm- 300mm ((x )extraction point o between 150. to 300mm )
( c) second lintel 300mm, 450mm
wall
(a)first lintel
(b)empty space (x) where
extractor duct etc goes
(c )second lintel
You can get also get extractor with top or rear extraction points

or wall mounted again with extraction point top or rear
or a downdraft hood

Some hoods the motor etc are inside the canopy the "flue" is more for show or to allow pipe work "flue" can be removed to allowing canopy to fit flush ?0 -
Thanks. I may take a pic of it. There's also a large flag stone which runs vertically up the chimney. It forms the conduit for the smoke etc to rund up the chimney. It's been there for decades if not a 100 years and more. It also prevents any flue to be installed.0

We installed a hood in a similar recess - we had the lintel moved right up the chimney breast and then boxed out the area below to make room for the hood.
Watch put that you cap the chimney appropriately - we had issues with rain dripping onto the hood!

I used one like this: http://www.kitchenappliancecentre.co.uk/hoods-c3/wall-unit-extractors-c158/under-canopy-extractors-c92/under-canopy-extractor-hood-52cm-metal-grey-p3251/s3263?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=cda-cca5si-under-canopy-extractor-hood-52cm-metal-grey-cca5si&utm_campaign=product%2Blisting%2Bads&gclid=CjwKEAjwxoG5BRCC7ezlzNmR8HUSJAAre36jt1vZRWW7sYNtyxRO6CcFOKRHAF2jgPRzzcAcJbXCkBoCuXnw_wcB

I built a timber frame to mount it on within the chimney, and covered the frame with plasterboard. Then I tiled the whole top, back & sides of the reveal. This has been working fine for 16 years now.
Edit: (No need for ducting as the fumes just go up the chimney.)0 -
Some images:
This is where I want to put the range and the 'hood' above:
This is the top where the 'hood' should go:
Another picture where you can see the lintels and the horizontal flag stone running up the chimney breast.
Total height of the space is 183 cms around 6 feet. I don't think I'll be able to fit any kind of hood in there. Somebody suggested fitting a couple of down lights and a fan similar to what they put into bathrooms. What do you think? Any advice? Thanks.
Oh yes, the depth of the 'alcove' is 45cms.0 -
JK0,
Am I right in saying that the 'hood' you posted is around 15cms in total depth?0 -
I'll bump this once more. :-)0
