Hi, sorry if this has been asked already.
I've tried to search and find this website that has a wheel circle and shows where you can tell it how much you have available to save and it shows you where to put your money. And what accounts.
Anyone know which that is pls?
Something like bank account savings?
Thanks

That site has never been the best advice for me. It doesn't suggest regular savers.0

I must say, I preferred it when it suggested people donate the direct debits to charities of their choice rather than into the site's own coffers.
I don't think I'll be directing any more people there.0 -
WOW!! £2 the lowest amount for the DD 'service'. That's a minimum of £24/year if you need them paying monthly, £48/year if you need 2 (like for Club Lloyds or Halifax), £96/year if you need 4 (like for the COOP). That's DDs that you can get for completely free with a little bit of initiative, or definitely for less than £2 a shot.
And that's for a website that doesn't even offer a complete list of the best accounts, like the one you get for completely free on this forum. It's frankly also not rocket science to work out which accounts are your best choice.
I don't really like the term 'daylight robbery', but that 'DD service' can't be described as anything else. The website is also getting referral money if people open the 'recommended' accounts without cleaning cookies first, and they don't tell you anything about that. I appreciate the website costs to set up and maintain but I don't see why anyone on MSE would recommend it to anyone.
Like masonic, I will certainly not recommend it to anyone either any longer, and I hope others will follow suit.0 -
Yes I looked at it earlier in the day yesterday and noticed the new DD "service" and thought that a minimum of £2 per month was a bit steep.
Any references I give or it from now on will suggest there are less expensive ways of satisfying DD requirements.0 -
Hmm... the minimum payment accepted by their direct debit provider (GoCardless) is £1 on which they'd pay a 1p fee. So there's no reason why they can't halve their charge.
And the site costs almost nothing to host (they use CloudFlare, I'm guessing on a free plan as the site is so minimal). So the money goes "to the costs of running this website" which are essentially zero.0
