i looked through alot of threads but can't find if anyone has been successful with claiming back the extra care advantage. Any help would be most welcome.

You can complain that any insurance was mis-sold, but you have to be able to show this was the case.
What year was the insurance first sold to you?0 -

Since regulation of insurance sellers only took place in 2005, you probably face an uphill battle.

i was working at the time,but the company paid my full wages for 9 months if i was off sick also i thought i had to take it out in order to get the account was never told any different.0

You'll need to be able to provide documentary proof of any such work entitlement and just believing you had to take the insurance is not a valid mis-selling reason.
You could complain if you were TOLD you had to have the insurance when it was actually optional. Even then, that's a weak hearsay complaint for which you can't provide evidence.
Your main obstacle, though, is that your complaint will be pre-regulation.0 -
