Surely they just want to see a (certified?) copy of your DL??

Well if the OP says he's held a UK licence for X years, then I assume they may want to verify this as well.

Is there something you're concerned about shaunandelly?

They normally check how long the licence is held for and if any endorsements and also what vehicles you are allowed to drive.

There's no "set" history they go back over

They just want to verify that all licence related questions you were asked when applying were answered truthfully.

(So they will check the details you gave like length licence held etc match up)

That's old hat, they now ask for your driving licence number and they can confirm your details online.

Yup,used to be no declaration beyond 5 years. Just wondering if could do a bit of sneaky loading for ancient speeding points that you weren't forced to declare.

How could they do it sneakily?

Can you not check your own licence on line? Will it show anything over 5 years?

They're not doing this, after all no points will be on your license after 4 years anyway. As already posted all they will be doing is verifying that your licence is as old and valid as declared.

If you have made your declarations truthfully then you have nothing to worry about.

Yep, can confirm that. For the first time I was asked for driving licence number (as well as how long licence held for) when recently doing some comparison quotes.
