Instructing solicitor

Hi,

Just looking for a bit of advice - I've emailed my broker but just thought I'd ask here too.

We had our offer accepted last Monday. I sent all the ID and documents required to our broker for the full mortgage application, and we also got a solicitor. I have provided ID and a couple of bits of paperwork to the solicitor.

The solicitor requires £300 to be paid before any further action is taken on our part. Now our broker only sent our full application on Friday - so my question is should I wait until that comes back/valuation etc is arranged before starting to pay the solicitor?

As first time buyers we are just still unsure how this all works.

Thanks in advance!

  • £300.00 will be search fees/disbursements. You can send the money but ask the solicitors not to to do any work until you have a mortgage offer.
