I briefly did air cadets and really enjoyed it. I wasn't there for long as I had a nasty bike injury which led to a break from all activities, and after that I did some more sedate hobbies for a while. But for the few months I went I had a lot of fun.

    Hope they enjoy it :)

My son is an army cadet and I am an adult instructor in army cadets.

To be honest your kids will only gain from being cadets if they are willing to put the effort in and commit.

We have cadets in our detachment that give it 100% and they progress through the star levels and promotion process well. You can definitely see the difference in them from when they start to when they leave.
However, we also have cadets who are there because their parents think it will be good for them rather than actually wanting to be there and the difference in attitude is very noticeable.

My DGD is in Air Cadets. She has an excellent time doing all sorts of activities and widening her circle of friends. I'd recommend any of those organisations (including Scouts and Guides) for widening horizons for young people. It's a good balance between school work and glued to a screen. They learn to talk to people!

I was heavily bullied at school although primary and into secondary.

I joined the air cadets when I turned 13 and I'm so glad I did it gave me so much confidence, friends and I honestly hand on heart don't think I'd be the person I am today if I hadn't joined.

I learnt so much from my time in the cadets I can recommend the ATC strongly enough
