Hi There,
Hope you might be able to help. Our Worcester 28CDI has stopped working with the CH but still produces HW. When we try to get the CH working, the indicator light flashes red. I have to switch off and reset to get the HW working again. Some recent history:
System partially drained following radiator removal. Refilled and repressurised
Drayton remote thermostat stopped working last week, replaced batteries but can't repair with master.
Radiator refitted and then removed again after pipe work was done. Seemed fine but 24 hours later no CH working and red light flashing. Damp patch under boiler to left hand side noted.
Hot water works after reset only if CH also not on.
Most confusing (and chilly) any help appreciated!!!

In my unexperienced opinion, it sounds like it could possibly be the 3 way valve playing up.
It might be fine when set for hot water only but when it tries to go to heating or heating + hot water, it could be sticking. (it may be that some sediment was disturbed during the rad removal).
If the valve wasn't opening correctly, the water pressure might build up too much which may account for the leak and when this happens, the boiler may sense the problem and trip off.
If the CH water wasn't flowing as it should, there might also be an overtemp scenario which could also account for the cut out.0 -
Thank you so much for your reply! Not a simple fix then, I assume!! Time to call the boiler guys

Thank you again!0 -
This is a combi boiler, so no 3 port valve will be fitted-most likely you have a sticking divertor valve, since the DHW works when the CH does not. However it sounds as if you may have other issues as well.No free lunch, and no free laptop

So, after leaving the heating overnight, it was working again the next morning. However, having switched it back off again, we couldn't get it to come on again when pressing the "override" button on the SCR, until later that day. I'm wondering if its perhaps something to do with the SCR unit, rather than the boiler itself…..0
