    Slightly off topic, but years ago we would put dying batteries in a warm oven and it gave them a bit of extra life.

    I mentioned this to the office junior who reported a couple of days later that she had tried this little trick but there had been a terrible smell of burning and her mother came to investigate. It came from her transistor radio, which she had also put in!

    Into the oven? Interesting.
    We just used to rub them in our palms to create heat and that would give them some extra life too.
