Microwave disaster

I've had a meltdown in my microwave (in a failed DIY attempt to sterilise baby bottles)
I'm not sure the toughened glass plate will be salvageable at this stage, such is the amalgam of plastic
. When everything cools down, how do I clean the melted plastic off the plate? Instinct says WD40 and a good scrub down. What else could I use?
And how easy are these plates to place O/S, ie other than paying extortionate amounts to the manufacturer for a replacement? I've never seen them in the chaz.

I wonder if it would scrape off using one of those ceramic hob scrapers, failing that ebay is often a useful & cheaper source for replacement parts such as this, so may be worth alook on there0

I would put it in the freezer to make plastic brittleand see if u can get underneath it with one of those scrapers mentioned above. If not would try Ebay.0

Let it all cool and you might find it'll peel off. If not just blow warm hairdryer on the other side of the glass to soften and loosen it, then you might be able to prise it off.

from £5 on ebay inc P&P is not too bad. But I'd attack it with a scouring pad first, and I'd do it when it's warm.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000

Thanks all, some really handy tips here!
Am pleased to report that the WD40 worked a treat. The unexpected benefit of all that steam from my failed sterilisation attempt is a sparkly clean microwaveValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

My mother once melted my sisters plimsolls in the microwave.. it was like a big round puddle sole with the canvas tops just sat there looking confused.. she had washed them and was trying to dry them quickly.
It usually just peels off.
You know they dont even need to be sterilised once they are over a year old??? (or before in my house) The immune system doesn't need it, so long as they are cleaned properly of course. It seems pointless to me once they are crawling about and eating the floor dirt and playing with toddler group/nursery toys etc..

In fairness, the bits that hadn't melted looked very white and clean!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
