ADvice about waste pipes

I have taken a photo ..

It is pretty rubbish but I shall try to explain what you are looking at and also what I need to know .

This is a photo of the waste plumbing behind a toilet in a downstairs bathroom I want to renovate.

You are looking top down and the white block you see at the bottom of the photo is the back of the toilet cistern
Forget the light bulbs and mess ..I can't get to the area yet ..I just opened it up to look.
The red circle is the waste for the toilet .

The Pink circle is where the waste from the Shower , The sink and the overflow from the toilet cistern goes.

I am just wondering where it goes and is this normal ?

Is it a second soil pipe ?
This is the ground floor with a concrete slab ..the work looks pretty messy as is so I would prefer it closed up properly.

I just never expected to see two waste pipes going through the concrete.

Good to know where the light bulbs disappeared to though :)

I would think that the sink/shower wastes go into the same foul outlet that the WC goes into which is usual. What isn't usual and must be avoided is the WC overflow going into the same covered drain. WC overflow must be visible, either discharging internally into the toilet bowl or piped through an external wall.

The smaller grey pipe at the top of the second photo is the waste from the overflow W/C. But I shall be changing the toilet to one that will discharge into the pan.

I am more concerned where those three pipes go . it looks like a 4" hole similar to a soil pipe capped with some kind of gunk I don't really want to rip everything out yet ..just thought someone might have some ideas.
