I bought a three seater sofa and one of the seat is 5 cms lower than other two seats.

I complained to Homebase and they arranged castelan engr(Homebase contracted repairs to them) to visit and he missed the first appointment and I wasted my holiday for waiting for him a whole day. I reported to homebase again they rearranged and he visited took some photos of him and sofa and told me the sofa is faulty and needs repaired. But the gentle man reported to Homebase no manufacturerfault. I've the below email from homebase after 4 weeks.

Please accept my apologise that no one has contacted you regarding the outcome of the inspection.

The engineer's report states that the issue is not a manufacturing fault and is normal settlement.

Therefore Homebase will be taking no further action in this instance.

How long have you owned the sofa?
While not wanting to be impolite but has a 'large' person been using it?

Since I bought this has been a problem, now nearly six months. At our home our BMIs are average or less :o.

If it is under 6 months then the onus is on the supplier/retailer to prove the fault was not present when bought.

And the keyword there is prove ... them simply saying it is so is not proof.

That's what they will claim to have done with the report from Castelan.

Of course with many major retailers these things are far from being independent reports. They are either from the manufacturer, who have a vested financial interest in not admitting it's a fault, or from a third-party company who won't get any more work from the retailer if they end up costing them too much.

Unfortunately all the OP can do is get their own truly independent report and take it to small claims court.

I've been telling since beginning and their poor customer service took me this long. I am happy to complain if there are regulated by someone. They cleverly avoid warranty and rip off customer. How many will go to independent and court.

    1. Is 5cm such a big deal?

    2. Can you use practical solutions to raise it by ~ 5cm?

Seems like the two questions I'd be asking myself before possibly going to get another report and going down the small claims route.

Well, according to my hubby, a difference of 5cm can be very important.

Why don't you have a go in the small claims court with them then?
