Mortgage panic

Hi, here it goes been looking on here for ages but only decided to post today!. On 07.04.16 hubby and myself had offer accepted on a house. That's the yay bit.....

Then sets in the panic!!! In 2008 we had our first house repossessed after my husband was made redundant and I was on maternity leave, to cut a long story short we thought we would never buy again. We have been very lucky to learn from our mistakes (growing older helps) and have been gifted a 15% deposit for £178000 property. We have used a broker who has applied to Nayarit for our mortgage, documents submitted, valuation took place this week.

I suppose my question really is from other people's experiences what are our chances of ever owning our own home again.

Many thanks in advance

You are going through the process...Are you asking if it will go through? Or do you mean, will it go wrong again ?
Sorry I don't understand the question

I might be reading this incorrectly but, have you put an offer on a house but don't have a DIP or AIP?
  • If you have used a competent broker, he/she will be better position to advise you on this point. Without knowing your full credit history and specifics it is difficult for any lay person to do so.
  • Sorry for the confusion in rubbish at this:(. We had a dip through our broker with natwest, made an offer on a property that has been accepted and have applied for mortgage, valuation was carried out this week, we have a 15% deposit. Suppose I'm just panicking that our mistakes from the past will haunt us forever and we will never own our own home again. I have two children and I want a place they know is secure. Thanks in advance

You need to speak to your broker first thing tomorrow if you need reassurance.

Not a single person on here can give you anything approaching an accurate answer i'm afraid.

Assuming you've fully informed your broker of your history, they should have recommended the right product for you so fingers crossed and all that :)
  • Thank you, we have told the broker everything no point in hiding anything, I have everything crossed for the future
