I am looking for a security camera to "protect" my home and have found http://www.lambda-tek.com/samsungtec-SDC-7440DC-EU~sh/B2102366&viewSpec=y#product-view - which appears to fit the bill
I am assuming that it connects wirelessly to my home router - but how do I store images/video ?
Do I need to leave a PC running 24/7 ?
or can I download to a USB memory device plugged in to my HG635 router ?
It says that it is not Ethernet/LAN compatible - but comes with 60 feet of cable - which I am assuming must be power cable ?
Any advice welcome

I don't believe it is wireless capable.
The 60ft cable is both power and analog signal with a BNC connector (plus power connector) each end.0 -
I think this camera only connects to a compatible DVR system which then may have the option of connecting to your router..... see https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-SDC-7440-Outdoor-Dome-Camera/dp/B00M04BAJO?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0

If you want a security camera that connects directly to your router you should be looking for an IP camera. Choices are wireless or cabled but you'll probably still need a power cable for wireless.
I'm after something similar and thinking about one of these...https://www.amazon.co.uk/niceEshop-Security-Surveillance-Camera-Monitor/dp/B018E2321Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1461428254&sr=8-1&keywords=escam+qf001

I think a lot of domestic grade cctv cams are simply rubbish and so lacking in detail and definition as to be useless.
The other thing of course is that people mount them high so all you get a grainy pictures of peoples heads !
One of lifes great mysteries,,how is it that you can buy a small HD digital camcorder for £120 with very high quality video and yet no one produces a reasonably priced domestic cctv cam?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
I have a DB power IP camera which connects via wifi to my router(you can hardwire it)
I do have a homeserver (Old thinkpad) and a NAS ( its a complicated setup) and use the software "iSpy" - it captures video when there is motion sensed (IR during the night)
You can get some cams which will capture directly to clouds or some which are compatible with NAS
You do get very good quality cameras but they cost £££ the usual ones are OK for cctv and you can identify people.
My cctv captures when it senses motion - I have flipping 8 cats who come and soil my garden!!!!!“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu

That £26 camera looks to be pretty low quality to me.
A good IP camera that can be powered over network cabling can be had for <£120 (HiKvision), with models that can record to internal SD card as well as to a dedicated DVR, a PC, or even an external drive or usb stick attached to a home router.
You can even have it set to record to one device automatically, but log into it via a tablet or PC as well.
We got one after seeing a friends system and the PQ is excellent even at night (it's full HD, recording in h264 so virtually anything can playback the files).
IIRC they do them in a variety of shapes, resolutions and lenses, which is important as you need to choose a lens that is correct for what you want to pick up (for example a 2.8mm focal lens will be great for things 2-3 meters away such as covering the front door but awful for anything over about 5-6m away, whilst a 12mm lense will be great at 40-60 foot but quite a narrow viewing angle).0
