Hb suspension letter received

Hi. Can someone help me with what this letter could be about or has anyone recieved the same. Its states my hb claim has been suspended. It states the office has been informed of a change in my circumstances. It is suspended pending reviept of additional information. It states i must return all necessary information so my claim can be looked at again. The reason for suspension is " see notepad for general reason"
There is nothing written on the letter telling me what information i need to supply...the boxes are blank. There isnt even a name after "yours sincerely,"
Can anyone help me as this is stressing me out massively and the offices are closed until monday.

Not much you can do until Monday and visit the council and ask.

They've been informed you get income which you have not declared or you may be living with someone....whatever it is it doesn't matter. That may or may not be true. You now need to prove you get what you get and who you live with and they will resume payment.

The council thought my OH was on working tax credits....yet she hasn't had them for over a year...and you don't get working tax credits unless you actually work so how they thought she was getting them I don't know but that's what the HMRC told them. The HMRC told them she was getting several different sources of income and all the amounts were wrong.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's probably some data matching gone wrong.

I too work. They know about this though and wage slips have always been supplied when requested. I have noticed my wtc have gone down in the last 2 weeks too. On 5th april i recieved a new hb calculation which is fine but now out of the blue this comes through. Its so vague though requesting info but not stating what info they want... reason for suspension 'see notepad for general reason' even not including a name after ' yours sincerely, '
Ive noticed my wages have gone up £1 per week (wow i know) hopefully thats the reason. Its just killing me that i have this to deal with but cant do it until monday and i dont know what i need to deal with in the first place.

Some councils have phone staff working on a Saturday morning, try and phone them before 12.00 there may be someone there who can help.

Many council HB depts have access to a real-time payroll information sysytem.
It might be that there is is discrepancy between this and the wages data they have entered on their system.

Take recent pay-slips with you (say 3-4 months worth), make sure you get an stamped slip from the council which acknowleges that you have given them this info. Keep this, so you have proof of the information you have supplied.

Your TC receipts will be taken into account when calculating HB. So take in this info as well. A copy of your bank statements which show TC's should be enough.

Have you savings above £6k? This could affect HB - if so it might be worth having this info too.

Has anyone in your house had a change of circumstances - or do you live alone?

Don't worry too much. Get all the information ready (household income, savings, etc) and see what they say. Do keep a record, though, of your dealings with the council as sometimes their admin / record keeping can go awry.

If the council make an official error (which you could not have been reasonably expected to have noticed) then they cannot recover any overpayments.

Has anything changed at all? No matter how small.
Has anyone come to stay with you?
To be honest there's nothing you can do until Monday. All anyone on here can do is speculate.

So do you bother to send in wage slips when your wages go up? Just send them in when requested? Working Tax Credits going down is usually a sign of income going up.
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.
