LuckyPenny wrote: »Having a productive MSE weekend so far. I have looked into switching my DD's child trust fund to a Junior ISA. I went with Nat1onw1de as they are my bank and have one of the best rates. When you have chosen who you want to switch you have to order a switching pack: done and just waiting for it to come through the post.
Just opened a new T$B account for the 5% cashback on the contactless payments (£100 limit and you have to pay in £500 into the account each month). This means you can earn £5 per month.
I have transferred my overdraft to a 0% card because it will be cheaper to clear this way. The transfer fee was £45 but I am saving £14 OD fees each month and I have until June 2017 to pay off.
I have listed a loads of things on eBay and Facebook. Getting a bit frustrated with people saying they want things on Facebook and changing their minds or not turning up. Fingers crossed the 2 out of 4 people still yet to collect are going to get it sorted soon. Looks like I'll sell 2 things on eBay. Won't count my chickens before they hatch but looking positive on the sales front.
I used my b00ts card loyalty points to get some hair bobbles for my DD and wombled more C0sta loyalty points; looking forward to spending them.
My DD won £25 on the Premium Bonds this weekend.
Congrats on the Premium Bond win :T... I had one my Grandmother bought me when I was born and never won a thing on it...LOLThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi all
We have given in and put the heating on. I am actually still cold even though I am under a blanket! Ridiculous weather.
Went to buy decorating supplies today, all in budget. Needed supermarket shopping and rather than sit in traffic we went to Mr Ts. Used the scan as you shop thingy so we knew how much we were spending.
I really need to update my spreadsheets. I have worked ridiculously long hours for the last couple of weeks and slept for 10 hours last night! I am going to have to do some work at home tomorrow. Its hard but I need to do this.
DS2 has footie tomorrow and its 30 miles away! That will take up a good part of the day. Will take drinks and snacks.0 -

I've been following this forum for a short time and finally got motivated to make an account and get involved. I love how supportive everybody is and I hope I can also return that along the way :j
@Bobarella - I read that article too and checked out her blog. Its brilliant, and really shows what you can achieve with the motivation and right attitude. £3000 a month, a girl can dream!
I'm gearing myself up for next month's "£10/day challenge" but in the meantime here's my DFW for today.
(I'm a Brit living in the NL so there's sometimes a bit of a cross-currency mismatch
)
- Earned 166 SB
- Registered for a product testing site and a trial (The Insiders I don't know if they have a UK site but seems to be all over Europe)
- Earned 60 Toluna (noticed that i qualify for more surveys here in NL than when I lived in GB, could be less Dutch members; as a result I've had 900 pts in GB account for months compared with 40,000 in 1 month on my NL account)
- Signed up for Toluna product test (fingers crossed, I need some new mascara!)
- Brought back a plastic bottle to local supermarket to get €0.25 off the bottle of wine i picked up for a dinner this evening
- collected loose shrapnel (5/10 cents) around my house and deposited it in the bank (€7.31)
- 7,000 steps for bounts
- 140 points GTM
- Used up the last of my M&S reduced chilli peppers by mixing them with cheese, garlic and tomatoes, popping on toast and splashing with Worcester sauce. Perfect brunch!
Hope everybody is having a lovely weekend and looking forward to posting more in the forum.
& out

@ Lucky Penny - what I need to find out is whether I can roll my sons into an investment product I already hold. I don't know if you can as I know the idea is you can't withdraw from the account till you are 18. But with the other one you can. So is it ok to have some that can't be touched and some that can within the same holding? A question for the company in question I guess." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

BG are an investment trust provider. I first heard of them in a money magazine I used to subscribe to. It interested me how the fund worked. They invest heavily in future technology providers. Amazon, Facebook etc makes a huge part of the portfolio. The performance has been excellent compared to the CTF which tracks the UK FTSE1index. Anyway. Have emailed them...
The ladies blog is From Aldi to Harrods. The article I read yesterday was on the Twitter feed of the daily fail if you look on there...." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

I rare.y posts on this thread although I do usually have a quick read.
This weekend, as every weekend, I try and have a little tidy/de clutter. A grotty ceramic plant pot was on my hit list for the tip until I found a tin of spray paint lurking in the shed. So, a quick spray and I have a nice, new home for one of my plantsLBM.....sometime in 2013 £27,056. 10 creditors

Morning frugal pals. Happy Sunday :hello:
Thanks fir the nudge in CTF. We have one for our eldest, will look to move it, it's doing ok but I think it could do better. Lovely day yesterday. Sorted through both DD drawers and took out everything they had grown out of. Will either sell (youngest) or save for youngest for eldest clothes. 'Shopped' for new clothes in my next size up box
checked summer wear so I can check anything we might need for holiday - nope :T
Also managed to dry two loads outside, have just pegged out another that I washed overnight on 30. Including 2 dressing gowns, 1 to sell, one to keep for youngest.
I also moved a unit from hall to lounge - looks lovely and we can now use it for display rather than storage, so saving money trying to find baskets to go in it
We're trying not t spend any money as we have our remortgage appointment on Tuesday and they will go through our account
so today will be frugal:
Off for a run shortly
Clean oven with minimal no toxic products - done
Get ready for week ahead, packed lunches, ironing etc...
Check card box and write list of ones need for next couple of months
DD to party, present from box
Clean drawer on washing machine - may put in DW for proper wash
Try and list a couple of bits on fleabay
Bump FB listings
Donate some swim nappies I found yesterday to pal
Check back later. PF0 -
Morning everyone
I woke up at my usual time this morning so I decided to get up and do some audit work. Its not something I really enjoy doing and I don't earn a huge amount but it all helps. Plus I can do it sitting in my jim jams with the radio on and a mug of coffee. So 2 out of the 4 audits are now done and I am not doing any more paid work today, I really need to have some down time. I was tired on Friday in my "proper" job and they could actually stop me from doing this extra work so I need to be careful.
Everyone else still asleep, even the dog, so its very peaceful. Not sure what to do with myself!!!0 -
Morning guys
thanks for starting the thread legomum :A
So last week was eventful! On Wednesday I was told my temp job was no longer
so now I am back to the drawing board. I had resigned from the pub and am working out my notice at the crisis cafe so after the beginning of May I am once again with no income
So lots of job searching and free activities until something changes...
Small plans for the day:
* write up reports from this weekend
* make a decision whether I will email manager at cafe and retract my resignation - am to two minds as it is a low amount of money and I am working 2 out of 3 Friday & Saturday evenings so it has quite a big impact on our family life but on the other hand some income is better than none...
* hang washing outside - forecast says it won't rain until around 3
* all meals from stores. Finally caught up with washing after returning from holiday :j It's been a huge battle!
* tupperware of something I hope is bolognaise out of the freezer to make a lasagna
* make banana bread while oven is on
* plant a few more seeds
* might list a few things on ebay/facebay....
* hopefully get oh to help me put up as couple of shelves in dgd's room
* go through cc statement and work out what's from where
* let oh know how much he owes me
* take dgd for a walk so she doesn't develop cabin fever and possibly stop at a pub for a 1/2  but maybe not...
* depending on time & how I am feeling I might start a job application tonight
Anyway that's all I think I need to get don.
Bob what is the article you mentioned??? xDF as at 30/12/16
