Hi all,
After some advice. I am about to move out of my parents home and rent my first place. Ive found a place and am going through the motions with all the usual stuff and am now at the stage of the estate agents doing to credit check and status request on me. Obviously this takes a while but im not actually sure what they check!
The credit check im not too fussed about. Whilst i have had a fair bit of credit in the past, i have never ever missed a payment on anything and my credit rating is "good" on Noddle (4/5)
What worries me a bit is the status request from the bank. I believe this is basically a yes or no answer from the bank as to if i can afford to pay the rent monthly. Im concerned about how the bank come to this conclusion? Reason i ask is because in the past, i havent been great with my finances. until recently Ive always spent all of the money in my bank account and there has been the odd occasion (id say no more than 5 times in the past 6 years) i have gone over my overdraft although this has always been resolved the same day. Its never been something that the bank have chased me on.
Think i may be over complicating things here but would like to hear from people with more experience on this than me!
Thanks all

The standard credit check done by most letting agents costs them £4 and takes about a minute to enter the data and 30 seconds to come back with the search including any outstanding CCJ's.
Obviously as they have to justify the extortionate fees they charge they have to play on it and spin it out.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
Im interested to know this also.
Ive made two late payments recently and my credit score shows good on noodle however i used equifax tonight and it states a high risk lending very poor credit score.

Get your own credit check, it only costs £2 or £3.0
