Although the OP has started a new thread today on the same subject on the Credit Card board, so I guess it's not sorted.0 -
Odd thing is the new thread has completely different reasons for the chargeback.0

I think this thread was initially bumped by someone following the link to here from the new thread.
That is.. interesting.Forwandert wrote: »Odd thing is the new thread has completely different reasons for the chargeback.

I don't think that 'voluntary' is quite the right word.glentoran99 wrote: »Chargeback is voluntarily though, it cant be enforced on the bank
Or to put it more strongly, chargeback is definitely not voluntary.
As is explained in MSE's Chargeback article:Chargeback is nowhere near as strong as Section 75 for credit card purchases. The key difference is that when you complain under Section 75, the credit card company itself is legally liable. With chargeback it's just about the Visa/Mastercard/Amex process, and that's nowhere near as weighty. It's also the case that you can't take the issue to court if your bank won't pay.
The Financial Ombudsman Service will insist the bank plays fair.
I.e. that the bank honours the terms of the their chargeback offering.0 -

Sorry what I meant was its not enshrined in law unlike section 750
