Euro Account

Options
Having read other post on this forum I was wondering if there was any new information on Euro accounts available to UK citizens.
I don't necessarily need a current account, just an account that I could pay sterling into from UK so I can pay bills for my property in Italy, make purchases and withdraw funds from ATM.
I have Citibank account but keep getting price rises in charges, card is constantly being declined when I try to make purchases and they have no ATM's in the area that I live. I have read the other post on this forum but most accounts mentioned have changed or no longer available.
Any suggestions from people with similar situation as myself would be very helpful.
Thanks.

If you have a property in Italy, can you not get a € account there and transfer money to it from UK?

    Hi Grumbler,
    thanks for reply.
I could in the short time I'm normally there but in this case would much prefer an online account, if possible in Italy. I read about am ingdirect.it orange account but when I enquired was told that they only deal with people with residency which I don't have.

Not residency, if you bought or inherited the property you will have a Fiscal (tax) code - "codice fiscale" that is what they need, you need it to buy a prepaid sim in Italy too.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Have a look at Revolut – perfect rates & £5 bonus

Their CS is pretty poor, but the card itself is good and cheap to use.

If you open an account in € eventually and this card doesn't add any new charges you can use it for most efficient converting ££ in your UK account to €€ in your abroad account.

    Hi Diamonds,
    thanks for reply.
I have got a fiscal code (codice fiscal), but I was told that I need residency. my understanding is that you can open a non resident account which I think is what I need.

This looks like a good deal - have you any experience with it yourself?

As a EU passport holder you need a address in situ (IT) and a FC.

I have done such, residency can be any EU country. Was it ING who told you residency ? I held a ING in AU and IT without residency.

Would Barclays not be better ? Pay anything by debit card over the phone http://www.barclays.co.uk/Otheraccounts/Currencyaccounts/euroAccountndashTheidealeurobankaccount/P1242557963870

Yes, the ING twitter team told me that their accounts are for residents only.

I think you have to be a high earner to qualify for the Barclays account which I'm not.

what type of account did you have carter allen bank?
