Fensa problems

Hello All,
Last summer I had some windows changed (by a FENSA registered company). To this day I've not had the certificates. I've chased the installer numerous times last few months. I've now been told that "Fensa had a computer systems upgrade and many certs weren't registered properly while this was happening. We've got to re-register yours and it'll take up to 2 months for them to send the certificates to you".
Does this sound plausible? Has anyone else had such a delay, or am I just being put off?
Regards
LS

As stupid as it sounds I actually hadn't thought of phoning FENSA. I have now done soThey say there's been no issue with their systems, so it seems the installer is not being totally honest.
And it can take 4-6 weeks for the certificate to be sent out.
For anyone who sees this thread, the person at FENSA said the installer should have a reference number from the web page (after registering your job) which they can pass on to you.0 -
Have you tried searching on FENSA's website to see if a certificate has been issued?0

I got mine as soon as the windows were fitted0

Certificate not on FENSA web site, which is what kicked off my querying. I think I'm stuck with an incompetent installer, who's covering up the fact they didn't do the FENSA registration promptly.0

It would be wise to submit a Buildings Regulations Application to protect your interests. The inspection might flag up problems to be addressed. Equally, everything might be fine, but you will need a Buildings Regulations Approval should you want to sell your home and have a straight forward run of paperwork.0 -
Its not necessarily so if it just doesn’t show up on site with Postcode: House No/Name: search done correctly not sure if it’s a problem with there site or info installer inputs or both but I have a number of properties registered some show up others don’t if I input all correctly ?
But I have found variation/glitch in coding that
If I input Postcode: e.g ab12 3cd
Then in House No/Name: instead of putting in house number / name
If I use a single letter that’s in street name e.g (street name) abc
Input single letter e.g. “a” into House No/Name: box it brings up all in that area
(Substitute real Postcode: House No/Name: not as examples above)
Also do repeated searches varying letter there site is pretty abysmal at best of times ?
Also it may be worth actually calling Fensa and checking also asking installer for the FENSA Cert ID Number:0 -
Have you checked with your local building control?
I had windows installed by a company with a FENSA logo on their paperwork but they didn't issue a FENSA certificate. Apparently the FENSA scheme is expensive!!
They used another guarantee scheme so, thinking that there would be a building control issue I contacted the council.
The installation had been properly registered as far as BC are concerned so when I sell it won't be a problem. I wasn't happy that they'd not made clear that they wouldn't issue a FENSA certificate especially as the installation had a few issues.
It may be that the installation has been registered0 -
Yes, are they also registered with any other accreditation schemes, CERTASS perhaps? When we had some new glazed front/back doors we received a CERTASS certificate, not a FENSA certificate. Its pretty much the same thing.0

Hmm, doesn't sound right. It has to be logged on the input page of the website on the day of completion and when you've paid. Then you get a reference number then the cert comes from fensa about 2 to 3 weeks later. It's just a plain white piece of paper, nothing fancy. In fact certificate is an overstatement!0
