I am as cynical/sceptical/wary as brightontraveller. Tricky97 should tread carefully and also consider what has been said by the site personnel and sales people. This might be well intentioned but ill informed, and it might also be misinformation. To say claim for "everything" could be setting someone up for a fall.

The loss adjuster will seize on this and suggest "that item was not really necessary", or "you went to John Lewis for that when it is cheaper at B&Q", or "show me evidence of your shopping around to minimise your costs"...plus other scenarios.

If the builder had a genuine concern there would have been formal guidance, and assistance, with making the claim. There would also have been clear guidance on the fundamental principles of insurance. Here there is a written, or implied, duty on the claimant to mitigate losses.

I trust everything will turn out OK but my antenna are sending warning signals to me.
