    I'm sure it comes down to trust, in the end. Trouble is, I discovered whilst doing a spot of Googling after my last dog died that pet crematoria are not regulated in the sense of providing this particular service. If this is true, then it raises some uncomfortable questions.

    After my dog died, I knew it was going to be another 2 weeks until the van from the crematorium arrived to collect him and that he would be remaining at the Vet's meanwhile. I had already settled in full for the euthanasia, cremation and all it entailed. But I changed my mind about wanting to take him to the crematorium myself, before the 2 weeks were up. It was no problem to do this, although I did have to pay the crematorium an additional £60 for remaining there whilst the cremation took place and taking the ashes home with me the same day. I paid it without hesitation because it bought me peace of mind. I do wonder, though, what else had to be incorporated into the process which was so expensive.
