Bt tv

Back in January I upgraded my BT Broadband and TV package. I am currently paying between £40 and £41 per month for Unlimited Fibre Optic and Entertainment Plus. I was told at the time that this price would be valid for 6 months then the price would increase to between £50 and £55 (don't have exact figure on me), but to call nearer the time and they would see if there is anything that can be done about this price increase.

I called yesterday and I was told that I should never of been told to call back to see about the price changes after 6 months as I have an 18 month contract and there is nothing that I can do about it.

Is this true? Or can anyone offer advice?

Thanks

You have an 18 Month contract, the price will not be dropped during that period. the only time you could possibly renegotiate a price deal is if they increase the fee mid contract or your contract is up.

Although it's morally wrong, they have just said 'call up in 6 months and see if there is anything we can do' which you have done, and they can't do anything.

If they had said 'call in 6 months and we will reduce your price' then that is a different matter entirely.

BT TV contracts are 12 mths. Its the current BB and phone offers that BT are advertising that are 18. And no, theres nothing you can do about it, sorry.

I think you'll find that what you were actually offered was £x off for 6 months. If the base price rises during that period, your discount remains the same, but your bill will obviously go up. Telcoms contracts are not fixed price, so they can change prices the day after your contract begins.
If you were told that the discount would apply for 6 months, then that discount should apply until June, but remember that you are billed a month in advance.
