O/S Daily Thursday 21 April 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x

Now light, light cloud, dry underfoot, I’ll put washing on the line shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, DS2 still in his pit, but will wake him shortly to get ready for school.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, mushy peas/veg for the menfolk. I managed to get 2 small fish pies made, 1 I had last night with veg the other is in the fridge and that will be my dinner tomorrow night, whilst the menfolk have something and chips. Tonight dinner will be HM chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, mash, carrots, LO cauli/broc cheese and any other LO’s from the fridge.
Work yesterday wasn’t too busy but steady. I’m now on days’ off but am working Saturday morning and next Saturday morning.

MIL rang last night ill person phoned her from the hospital yesterday morning saying they were out of bed in a chair and seemed quite chatty. MIL & FIL had planned to go yesterday afternoon which they did, by that time ill person was back in bed sleeping most of the time they were there and was on a morphine pump, their legs are all swollen up and now have all blisters appearing all over their legs – MIL said hospital staff have said they won’t do anything about the blisters. The consultant has asked ill person about their end of life plan and ill person said they didn’t know – no-one seems to be doing anything constructive and nothing seems to be in place. It appears that there’s no Will or ill person wishes are not know by their immediate family, I can see there being a major panic as no-one will really know what their wishes are when the time comes. MIL just said that she’s not going to get involved. DH and I have spoken to ill person’s immediate family and said we’ll do anything they need us to do and we’ll support them to do whatever they need to do. DH and I are going to the hospital on Saturday afternoon. Although I have experienced several times that someone appears to be much better ie, the sitting out of the bed, being quite bright etc but then taking a very rapid downward turn and passing away soon after. We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the next 2 days.

I do have a “to do” list for the next couple of days, with quite a bit on it, so will potter along and get that done. I’m need to go into local town this morning to visit the building society and bank, also purchase something from A***s for the menfolk of the family, but I have vouchers/gift cards so will be minimal cost.
Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Sad to hear that Victoria Wood has died, such a talented lady.

It looks like another beautiful day, yesterday was so nice and warm although I didn't get to see very much of it being stuck inside but everyone was in a good mood. Washing on the line already.

Went for a meal out after work which was very nice, good company too. Love going after work as I was home by 8, can't be doing with being too late on a school night!

Judi - Take your time to get over yesterday.
JackieO - Hope you're feeling better today, sounds like you are having a fantastic time.

Can't believe it's Thursday already. Hugs to those in need. Take care. XX
  • Morning all. Another glorious day forecast. Yesterday was so warm in the sun, most welcome! We got the shopping done in the morning, dropped friend's present off, went to DB's to collect our sausage order, then finally got some time to potter in the garden before the DGD's descended for tea and sleepover.

The youngest is up and watching Ben and Holly, the middle one will be to waken shortly. It seemed so much easier with just two of them! All 3 are here for tea, sleepover and tomo school run. I did a mountain of mashed potatoes yesterday, so there would be plenty left to make a shepherd's pie for them all at tea time. Late arrival today, after their swimming/diving clubs, so by then they are usually starving!

Plans for today include much washing to take advantage of the good drying weather! Then back to the garden pottering. I'll be glad when it;s time for summer bedding to go in, it all looks so drab just now.

Well middle DGD now awake and asking what's for breakfast! She has hollow legs that one and could eat for England!

Have a good day all whatever your plans and (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. JUDI I'm glad yesterday didn't involve lots of arguments, so that was a small bonus at such a traumatic time for you. Be gentle with yourself now. Take care all xxxx

    Morning everyone.

Think it's going to be a lovely day again here. Two in a row!

Yesterday I had a delightful day on Arran and I so glad I went. It's only half an hour on the ferry.

Today I am confined to quarters waiting for a delivery. The email said it would come between 7.am and 7pm. Luckily deliveries are subcontracted out and will come between 9.00am and 4.30pm.

I'll probably spend some time in the garden. Once the dew has dried off I'm hoping to get the grass cut - it's been too wet until this week.

My SIL sent me a text offering me a DVD of the funeral - seems usual thing to do in Oz. I've said yes but not sure if I can watch it. We'll see.

    Anyway, happy Thursday everyone.

    Morning everyone,

Bright and sunny here, yesterday was glorious.

The vet was very pleased with Rosie dog, said for her age, nearly 12, she is in excellent health and congratulated me on managing to keep her weight down, she is a chocolate lab and they can get hefty if allowed :) she has a bit of arthritis in her hips and elbows but that's to be expected. She is going to send me some anti-inflammatories in case it starts to get worse. For now will just keep giving her the glaucosamine tabs.

Work today so that just needs to be got through, it's pay day for me so will squirrel amounts away in the required pots.
RR hurrah for your temp pay rise, good for you :T

Hugs to all that need them, have a good day folks x

    redruby Fab news!

    Lainey I'm glad Rosie's OK x

I think I've sorted my FB, I'll be able to actually talk to people again :D It hasn't worked properly for ages, sometimes I'll get a notification weeks after the message/whatever was sent. Very annoying and I'm sure people must think I'm ignoring them. I'm not, I promise!

I've varnished the shelves so they should be easier to keep clean now, thanks again pollyanna.

It's bin day today, very pleased about that – you should see the amount of stuff I've thrown away. The bin is full and I've filled two recycling bins, could've filled the third one too but it's full of pots at the moment and I couldn't be bothered to empty it, lol.

An earlier walk for us this morning, then the shopping's coming. I want it all put away before lunch because once I've sat down to eat, I have no intention of getting back up to do anything except let Scampi out when he needs it :D

Tidied kitchen and sitting here with a cup of tea while I wait for the builder to come round with a drawing of the planned kitchen :j

I ordered full length curtains a couple of days ago and they arrived yesterday. Older dd helped me put them up. They look very good quality and I will try to shorten them by a few inches once a new carpet is in. I had expected them to be a silvery grey but they are a slightly duller metal colour which should work even better with the brown ish new sofa that is ordered and the chrome light fittings.

I have not had breakfast yet but will make a brunch of an omelette once builder has gone.

    Judi

How sad when the best that can be said is "at least there were not any fights!" Hug and well done.

    RR
Well done on the promotion even if temp.

A walk to the supermarket later is needed as I am running low on meat, veg, pasta, noodles etc. Might phone dd and see if she wants to meet up in York for a coffee.

    csarina

Once I get the house sorted out I had thought of getting something to do that interests me and had considered U3A. I need to get myself out of the comfort zone (well more of a building site !!! slob zone).

    Hugs to all

    Hugs to all
