Car insurance

Options
Im currently awaiting a letter from my dro application..
How will this affect car insurance? do i need to inform my current provider. Would I be able to go to a new insurance company if I get a cheaper quote etc? Because I'm going to a cheaper car so mu insurance will be alot cheaper.. And was wondering how I go about with getting new insurance or even renewing my insurance whilst having a dro.. Do I mention it? Tia :)

I went bankcrupt and to save any hassles i just accepted the auto renew from my current insurance. Of course you can call them and say you have found a better quote can they match it or get anywhere close.
I wouldnt mention it, just try change you car on your current policy first and see if they are competitive, then let it auto renew.
Bear in mind, if your paying monthly some will charge you higher level of interest due to your history so it may seem cheaper to switch but may not being once they search you. Sometimes better stick with what you have... It was for me anyway. I did get some quotes and they said some negative info had come back so they wouldnt quote, one said they would but the interest made it £200 more than the initial quote and on par with my current insurer. To save rocking the boat i rang my insurance got a bit knocked off and auto renewed

Also bear in mind with a new policy you normally pay a deposit mine was £140 - with auto renew you dont so makes sure you work that into your monthly figures. Of course if your paying in one go i dont think any of this will matter i would just ring them and tell them about DRO and pick the cheapest policy
