How far back can I claim ppi ?

Hi folks I had around £10.000 pounds in loans from the co-operative bank from 1990-2000 , all with ppi , I was told to take it out if I lost my job etc, I have no lettes of proof , But I still have the same account number , when I phoned them they said they only go back 10 years? Is this true ? I have posted a claim form to them today but am I wasting my time trying to claim back so far .? Thank you in advance for any advice :)

If they have no records and you have no records, it's over.
You could have sent a SAr and £10 to se if they had anything left, but wait until they reply now.
