Tiles over cladding any day of the week

Cladding is plastic and a cheap imitation. We install bathrooms day in day out and the only time I would consider the use of laminate boards are for student rentals.

Cladding even on a ceiling is a no no , will discolour in a few years and your just trapping moisture

Agree with the above, the type of cladding you get from PVC merchants is very cheap looking. There are other products Altro Whiterock etc. which do look good but they are expensive compared to tiles and you need to be skilled to fit and weld the joints.

While I can see that the concept of cladding would seem to meet a lot of practical issues, I think it kind of smacks of "Cheap holiday caravan at Hoseasons in their old stock vans" and so might have a "less normal" or "less luxurious" feel.

I am prepared to state that I've not inspected or viewed any cladding, so could be wrong.... but I would think it's a "quick/cheap way to get a job done", if one were not in a position to spend the "correct" amount of time or money doing it.

I've seen cladding in the show room. Not really like it.

    I suggest getting large tiles.
personally had bathroom with small tiles, it takes a while to clean the grout in between when it getting yellow...

Significant advances in cladding products mean it no longer needs to look like a caravan or hospital ward. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=altro+chameleon&biw=1600&bih=793&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwigzLaSr5_MAhULtBoKHbbuBKgQsAQILg&dpr=1 As said though, it's not cheap compared to standard tiles

Inlaws have cladding in their new downstairs loo. They spent a reasonable amount, but it still looks pretty cheap if I'm honest.

We're just had our bathroom redone (tiles) and we got a very luxurious finish without breaking the bank. The skill of the tiler + little things like trims etc. can make a big difference even with tiles that don't cost the earth.

If going down the DIY route, I'd go for cladding if you are less confident as it strikes me that it would be far more forgiving for a similar finish to that which a professional could achieve. Tiles, on the other hand, are pretty easy to mess up if you lack confidence/are impatient.

As with most, you have to spend money to get the quality. I personally have seen a few bathrooms with cladding - my grandparents just spent 2k on one of their bathrooms and now are planning to do the other 2 the same, and it is beautiful. Wipe down to clean, almost certain the guarantee from company was 10 years if they used their fitters.

Tiles are good too, depends on whos doing the job and what tiles are being used. But I think you need to visit a show room to get a decent feel of what looks best for yours.

I'm not sure, I'll ask her tomorrow and reply back. It was a local based company in Andover.

Sorry, I thought you meant that the company that manufactures the cladding gave the 10 year guarantee like Karndean does if you use their recommended fitters. I didn't realise that you meant that the retailer gave the guarantee if they fitted it themselves.
