Car Credit Hire Ridiculous!
Hi all, feedback welcome on my below dilemma!
Made a none fault claim against my car insurers. Third party admitted liability. My insurers referred me to a car credit hire company. I agreed to receive hire car.
4.5 weeks into hire of vehicle I received the credit hire agreement contract. The fees in this were huge and 4 times more than what same car could be hired direct from a standard hire firm. (6k for 38 days hire). As it happened I was able to return car same week as I had found a replacement car.
The hire firm will first try to recover costs from the at fault party insurers, if they are unable to recover they will attempt to recover from me.
The issue I have is that the cost of the hire was not disclosed to me until week 4 of hire. I was only advised (on phone) at point of hire that it's a credit hire basis and in the event of none recovery I am liable. Key facts were never disclosed IE potential costs. I would not have agreed to the unreasonable amounts.
I have not signed anything as yet with the credit hire firm.
The credit hire contract is back dated as well as the accompanying 14 day cooling off period form which renders it useless.
I am reluctant to sign in the event the third party insurers do not pay out IE due to a ridiculous fee requested.
The credit hire firm have said they need it signed so they can recover costs from third party insurers, if I don't sign then they will immediately try to recover all costs from myself.
My insurers cannot assist as its a separate agreement with another company (approved by them I might add).
What should I do?
