My view is that post a hypothetical Brexit, maybe cornflakes would be more expensive. Maybe not.

Gen, there will be tumultuous sounds reverberating around the world heralding the re-emergence of a great superpower. The UK will declare a national holiday. Mr Johnson will tour the world commanding leaders of smaller nations like the US and China to "sign here" on his new trade agreements. The cost of living will fall, immigration will cease and millions of loyal Brits will return home to take on the jobs that immigrants once did, the Eurotunnel will close, shares in fencing firms will rise as the new round- Britain razor fence rises above the waves at the edge of UK territorial waters, the FTSE will rise above 20000 and world peace will ensue.

Of course disloyal colonials who voted to remain will be banished from the motherland.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

The Aussies hated the Japs long after WW2, but they have a trade deal...

And there's a difference between having a trade deal with a country, and the kind of delusion that makes a brexiter believe that a reasonably small country on the other side of the globe is going to be our "main trading partner".
Having a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. Blackwhite bellyfeel double plus good...

trade is mutually beneficial otherwise it doesn't take place unless subsidised by governments or the EU.

the decisions to trade are made by businesses or individuals choosing to buy and sell goods or services and not (except for dictatorships) by government instructing businesses to trade.

governments /the EU can of course choose to make their own citizens poorer by levying tariff or non tariff barriers.

no reason why people in small countries may not wish to buy the same products that people in large countries want to buy.

So much of the "What Next" would depend on the EU response. Much of that is unknown.

The EU would be in uncharted waters, to an extent.

What's the betting? Does pragmatism rule over bloody mindedness?

When Scotland chose to Remain, Westminster didn't try to "stiff them over". Maybe that could be a guide...

Have we actually had an answer, even a wish list of what's next after Brexit?

of course one of the big difference between stayers and goes, is that stayers don't need to have any views about the future, as they know they have no influence on the important future issues: they will all be decided for them in europe even on vital issues like the VAT rate on sanitary products.

brexit people on the other hand will have to engage in the messy process of debating and disagreeing about the future policy : democracy can be so tiresome.

This is fallacious. We decide most of our own important policies already. This stayer thinks that things are not perfect but are largely good and that voting out would potentially make them less good, so sees no particular large upside to the upheaval of voting out.

can you even determine the VAT rate on sanitary products?
