AutoAid recovery... Seriously...?

They ask for the partner's name as part of the sign-up. Does it make the slightest difference?
I suspect it does make a difference. It's easy to wrongly name someone as a "partner" to benefit from the extra cover, but it is rather more difficult to obtain a marriage certificate to falsify that fact (I suspect it wouldn't be worth doing so for the sake of a vehicle breakdown policy).0

Would it be possible to just say "yeah, we're married, but we have different last names"
I can't imagine them asking for marriage certificate?
That is exactly what they do. I am in that position and the system asked for a copy of our marriage certificate to forwarded.
It in there application process which spots the difference in names. If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you! :dance:0

I guess its their terms take it or leave it. How are AutoAid supposed to know you are living together ? You could basically cover all your friends of the opposite sex by just saying 'oh yeah we're partners' if they didn't have that rule. Its a bonus for married couples not a penalty for being unmarried. Even if you bought a policy each, it's still cheaper than the AA or RAC for recovery home or anywhere else.0

On their online application form it now says "Spouse/civil partner/common law partner"0

Thanks for the update but check the date, the OP is nearly two years old!0

...which is why he said "...the form now says..."Thanks for the update but check the date, the OP is nearly two years old!
It's a useful update, and good to see that they've finally realised that marital status is utterly irrelevant. Unfortunately, the "full policy document" on their website is still dated Dec 2016, and does not include "common law partner", just spouse or civil partner.0
