Question about Married Couple Allowance please

Just slightly confused so need to ask if we will just see a reduction in tax to pay by or will receive a cheque payment?
Applied successfully online a couple weeks ago, heard nothing since but also remember the confirmation email suggesting it could be back dated to last year.

Can anyone help us shed some light on how this is likely to paid.

Thank you

Do you mean marriage allowance rather than married couples allowance?

For this year it will be a change in tax code.

For 2015/16, if your tax code wasn't changed before the end of the tax year then I believe you get this by cheque

We applied for ours about 2 weeks before the end of March. Unfortunately we didn't get it back in my husbands pay because he gets paid the 10th of each month, meaning he had already had his final pay of the tax year.

I believe that if they owe you money they send out a P800 (I think that's what it's called) and they will send you a cheque but this doesn't happen til July time. I have also read that you can write to them to highlight an over payment in tax.

    Hope that helps
