Ampy 5224e meter, with a blue button, will flash on the active reading, prob rate 1 for day ( but not always ), and rate 2 for night. Yes , watching when the meter switches to night rate is the best idea.No one else can really tell you for sure. That model of multi rate meter is quite common and is one I see whos internal clock has drifted up to two hours sometimes. Add the hour difference in GMT /BST and it could well be 2 am in the morning before night rate comes on. You could also watch it in the early morning when I have seen that meter still on night rate after 9 am when everyone would expect the day rate to be active. That is one of the ways that meter readers get these meters mis billed with transposed night/day rates. Its not such a bad thing to have the cheap seven hours skewed but only if the customer is aware of it to timer heavy use appliances/or electric shower in cheap rate.0

Yeah, it would seem that it is going the other way, it was on the night rate at 11pm last night, I checked it at 8:30am today and I was back on the day rate. The most confusing for me now is that supposedly I used absolutely no night time electric at all last night, but apparently did use 4 units of day. I'll just have to keep an eye on it for a while. At the very least with my playing I've managed to drop my day usage quite substantially, so I don't mind watching it for a while just to see what happens! Thanks for all your help guys, you've been really useful0
