Two leasehold management pack charges?!

Hi all
We are currently going through the process for buying and selling and would like some advice from you guys. Basically it’s to do with the leasehold management packs (we are selling a flat). First off, I was shocked and appalled when our solicitors turned round to us (and may I point out the only direct communication we have from them is when money is needed) and said that the ‘management company’ need £240 to provide a pack. After a day of reading around the forums I discovered that this is the norm, so I bit the bullet and paid up. This was 4 weeks ago. Fast forward to today, and they emailed me saying that they need a further £240 for a management pack from the other management company for yet another pack. At this point I will mention that we have a company who collects ground rent, and a company who deal with the service charge – ridiculous I know. So what I want to know is, am I right in thinking that this is insane and extortionate? The fact that they both charge the same fee leads me to believe that they cooperate with each other to create one pack but I can’t know for sure yet. I haven’t spoke to the solicitors yet as they emailed me just before they finished for the day. I have emailed the latter management company to query the fee but obviously I haven’t heard back yet. But if this is all legit, then I would have paid £480 in total and I can’t justify that.
Your thoughts are welcome and thank you for your time

I assume you still want to sell? I'm assuming the first pack had been paid for and received? If you really don't want to pay, stop the sale and purchase. Sit back, lick your wounds and eventually it will be the problem of your inheritors...
Double check with the solicitors that this is indeed needed and not simply an over sight as they already have one management pack. I doubt it's a mistake from what you've said. Please tell me you've got fixed fee conveyancing too, because otherwise this could be even more costly.
This isn't your solicitors fault, management companies have you over a barrel. Xxx0
