If you are so concerned about damage to your credit rating, you need to address the other issues and not create a problem over what may well be the only positive thing on your entire credit report!0

I found solentsusie's post not in the least judgemental. You seem to be getting uptight and stressed over something that is having a negligible effect, it may even be a positive one, on your credit file and is easily sorted but very laid back over the things that are important and having a massive negative impact.
I am not remotely 'laid back over the things that are important'. !!! It is a torment and a massive struggle, and I am doing everything I can to solve it. The catalogue account is one step I am making of many previously and many to follow.
The catalogue account is not a small thing to me - or should I say the fact that my request was not followed up on - and it was a clear request, by phone, to La Redoute.0 -

I have several positive things on my credit report. Way more positive than a credit account!:)
I didn't start this thread to talk about the other issues - they are dealt with on the DFW board. I was just expressing my disappointment about one small aspect of my finances and the fact that an account wasn't closed. Whether it is bad or good for my credit file is probably a moot point, the fact is I asked and they left it open and added available credit, which was something I specifically asked them not to do. Personally I believe it is harmful on balance because I have too many accounts overall. That is the point I was making, not the fact that the others don't matter. Far from it, I'm in a bloody mess and the moment and it's no fun at all.:o:(0
