Anyone heard of UK House Extensions

Hi Everyone,
We recently went to the Home Building and Renovation show at the NEC. We saw UK House Extensions (ukhouseextensions.com) who we had previously seen at Grand Designs. When we saw them previously the sales men didn't seem that on the ball but on this occasion they have all changed and seem a little more like a building company.
They have quoted us for our extension, and although cheaper than a conventional builder, they are still quite pricey and not the 50% less that they said they would be.
Just interested if anyone has had positive or negative experiences with them as there is very little about them on the WWW and don't want to be one of those couples that ends up on Watchdog.
Thanks for your time.

Be sensible.
Ask lots of questions. Get quotes in writing. Pay in installments and never in advance. And trust your gut.
Do all that and you'll be OK.0 -
This smells a little like processed pork in a tin, albeit slightly concealed!0

Rubbish that anyone can say they will be 50% cheaper? If you use a company that’s not filled accounts, has no real trading history, doesn’t include required info company address etc on its web site https://www.gov.uk/running-a-limited-company/signs-stationery-and-promotional-material
Then you do so at your own peril? Either they don’t know what a business should do or they don’t want others to know either way not a great starter0 -

My thoughts too.
Regardless, let us stand back and analyse matters. All building materials have an almost fixed cost, likewise plant and likewise labour. Typically these could all vary by perhaps 10%. This is a simple fact of life. Hence the statement to undercut quotes for building work by 50% is so absurd as to be barely worthy of comment.
A 50% cut may be possible if reject materials are used, if labour comes from a gang master using people sleeping ten in a shed, if supervision is non existent, if notification is not made to any authorities, if all payments are in cash...the list goes on.
OP has to ask why they expect a 50% reduction and where they are prepared for corners to be cut.0 -
I'm always wary of anything relating to building which is small, yet claims to be national.
I'm also wary of anything national, like the sponsors of the Home Building and Renovation Show, which simply can't compete with locals, thanks to spending so much on self- promotion.0 -

Equally there should be a health warning attached to all entrance tickets to the HBRS. Stands are available at low cost, if one is savvy, and cowboys, spivs and conmen can take advantage of this. The show organisers could not care less who rents a stand - they simply want the money for the floor space. Consumers then go forward thinking the stands are somehow endorsed, or approved, or genuine. Of course this is not the case, and they do not realise they have to ask searching questions of all exhibitors.
This year the show was sponsored by Velux, and the organisers should be given credit for this. For years the show has been sponsored by Anglian Home Improvements, which has made it the laughing stock within the construction industry. The show had little credibility, yet the consumers still streamed through the doors.0 -

No slight against Velux intended, although the double glazed units in the 3 Velux windows I bought in the 1980s all misted-over within three years.
One never forgets!
The beauty with Velux is the after sales. FiL had a glass failure - I think his unit was 13 years old - but Velux replaced it FOC.
Equally the 1980s was early days for sealed units. Many did fail prematurely, and roofs are a vulnerable area for failure.0
