PIP and ESA?

Can anyone help me make sense of this? I get ESA and got my PIP assessment back which has awarded me £55.10 a week Daily living component.
Ok so I've been reading in these forums about getting a SDP form from ESA to claim carers for myself as I live alone with no dependants? What I'm concerned about is do I already get this with ESA or is this a new thing being introduced with the PIP changes? Hope you all get that and that someone out there can shed some light in this matter? Thanx

You don't claim carers allowance, that's a benefit someone can claim for looking after you.
If you live alone and have no-one claiming carers allowance for you then you can have a premium added to your ESA. It might depend on what type of ESA you get, whether it's income based or contribution based, I'm not sure.
It's not a new thing, and if it's a new claim for PIP then you won't already be getting it. If however, you've moved to PIP from DLA and were getting the middle or higher rate of care DLA then you should already have been getting the premium.
It's not a difficult or scary form, it's just a tick box form - do you live alone, does anyone claim carer's allowance for you.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

Severe disability premium is only applicable to income based esa.Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

you can claim the SDP on cont based ESA if your household income is low and you meet the other criteria.
this would give an income related top up to cont based ESA0
