Gladstone brookes

Hi, I'm new to the forum and I've been trawling the posts looking for answers.
Basically I enquieed with my bank theough their PPI claims line if I had a case but they more or less stated I had no case.
Thinking I was in for a battle I (stupidly) contacted Gladstone brookes who took on the case.
To cut a long story short, i received a good payout and I have received my bill for gladstones fees and I'm shocked at how much they are. I have since been told there is a cap coming into effect but unsure when. After I have read how easy it is to do it myself, I'm upset that this wasn't explained by Gladstones as I believe they have to explain this.
I have held back from paying them and I'm now getting the threatening emails saying my case will be passed on to their 'collections' department.
Can anyone shed some light on where I stand regarding paying Gladstones?
Thanks

You have signed a contract with them and you have to pay them I am afraid, they will take you to court for this.
They will have sent you a contract to sign and the fee will be in the contract.
Just pay it and get rid of them.
Lesson learnt for the future?.
Have you any other claims in progress?.0 -
Hi, thanks for the info. I could kick myself for not joining this site...could have saved me hundreds of pounds. Like you say, lesson learned.
The only other claim I have going at the moment is on my bank account and not related to the ppi claim. Also I have found out I have been paying ppi on a mortgage account which was settled in 97.

So has anyone else had experience with Glasstones. If so what was the outcome?
Thanks0 -
The outcome would have been that they paid a large proportion of their redress to the company.
Most discussion about Claims Companies here is largely about how they are a waste of money.
I doubt anyone will post about their actual "experience" unless they have a particular axe to grind.
You signed a legally binding contract. You were under no obligation to do this and the company are under no obligation too tell you that you could also complain alone.
You'll have to pay or face debt collectors and court action.0 -
As already stated you signed up and agreed to them collecting PPI due to you and now have to pay up the fee's or face legal proceedings, Complaining after the even on this is a complete waste of time, Chalk it down to experience and move on.0

You really do not have much choice and just bear in mind hindsight is a good thing for future reference.0
