Hello all,
I have an AEG electric oven that has stopped working. The knob used to set the temperature still lights up and it sounds like it is on, as i can hear the fan probably. But it won't heat up and the inside light doesn't come on. It stopped working while cooking roast dinner. It seemed to work fine while cooking the chicken for an hour and a half but straight after I put some potatoes in and realised it was not heating up.
Any suggesttions much appreciated.

Sounds like the element has failed.

Google is your friend or pay someone to fit a new element.

You'll probably get better advice if you post your question in the home and diy sub forum.

I agree with the posts above, I've had the even stop heating up a couple of times and on both occasions it's been the element. I ordered a replacement from Espares and they've lasted a few years each, the official ones are a lot more expensive and I doubt would last long enough to justify the higher price.

This is the one I bought to give as an example, your oven may need a different one:

    http://www.espares.co.uk/product/es209572/fan-oven-element-2300w

I followed their guide and it was easy enough as all that was needed was to remove the back cover on the oven, take the element off by undoing its clips and screws then fit the new element and put the cover back on.

I notice my oven seems to have failed but then also notice the timer thingie has been set to something I know nowt about. My missus just flicks it round to something and it kicks into life. Make sure it isn't something as simple as me..er it.

^^^ That's a good call, especially as the light doesn't work. However, I am not sure that the temperature control would light up if oven was in timer mode.
