Mouse and Keyboard not working

Suddenly this morning my mouse and keyboard on Dell desktop with XP. It was working fine first thing but after 2 hours it froze.

I have plugged both into my laptop and they are working.

I have unplugged all USB cables and then plug one at a time, but no joy.

Any ideas please?

pc boots per normal. tried different ports and devices but no response.

use a ps 2 mouse if you can and go into devices and settings and look for big yellow marks next to usb , delete and reboot


alternately try a install disk and check mouse before you load , xp /7/8 or 10


if mouse has action then its xp that has croaked , if no mouse then dell has died


PS: does k/board work to get into bios?

Are they wired or wireless ?

If wireless have you tried new batteries ?

Does the keyboard work just after you reboot, pressing one of the Function keys to get into the BIOS, or produce a list of bootable devices, or whatever?
