That wouldn't have been one of the obvious ones IMO, and not really as entry level position ( I'm guessing the OP is talking about a job he can walk into?)

OP, how about working in a pub? You'll get to know all the regulars and meet a lot of different people.....

That's my only suggestion really if you're not considering care work or sales.

It's virtually entry level. I'd expect someone to have been a receptionist or admin assistant first but an older person might just walk into it.

No chance. You need plenty of admin experience and usually experience of managing a team.
  • One of those charity type Benefits Advisor or Disability Buddie is about the only one I can think of for true relationship building, even then I wouldn't be so convinced.

I really wouldn't have said hotel as I don't remember getting paid to talk to people to not reach an end goal, (the only exception was once when a god awful conference business network didn't have enough delegates it sent it's staff in! Of course we weren't the right calibre!) it just wasn't as pressurised or heavily sales targeted for a national chain wanting to pay proper peanuts but you did have to respond within hours of receiving an enquiry/contact and say x amount of scripted stuff as that is where the targets lay (I understand it to be a lot different as well in the private when it comes to sales etc) it's no different for delivery drivers who under stress have to meet their eta's so I think you are looking at this wrongly in every instance. A company always makes a profit for a reason so quit whilst your ahead in fluffy thinking.

    • Bar person is obvious.
    • Perhaps try a job in a jobcentre interviewing dolees? Its often said the such interviewers are very unpleasant, but for someone who wants to actually get on with people, it could be ideal.
    • Another one I thought of is someone who organizes, or is involved in charity events and fundraising.
    • There is also team sports and coaching but these arent easy to get.
    • Traffic wa..............never mind.
Sometimes my advice may not be great, but I'm not perfect and I do try my best. Please take this into account.

OP, you've been frequently posting on this board for over 2 years, with different idea careers each time.....

What are you doing at the moment? Are you willing to study to get to a new career, or do you want an entry level position?

TBH to just have a job that you don't hate, is a major plus! A lot of people don't even that luxury!

Why not volunteer for a charity for a while? Do fundraising?

How about working in a library? When I've been in my local library, the staff seem to know everyone and there are a lot of regulars there.

Depends on the company. I've known several office managers. The largest team I've known any of them to have is a receptionist and an admin assistant. The smallest had no team at all.

I do agree you need a fair amount of admin experience though.

When I worked as a receptionist it involved a lot of talking while people were waiting for their appointments. But I'm the opposite and I hate interaction with people, even nice people. My ideal job would be to work completely on my own and no face or phone contact. Emails would be fine though.

I think a mortgage advisor or estate agent must involve a lot of interaction as you spend quite some time with a person rather than a short limited time.
