E10 smart meter

I know E10 rates and E7 rates are being discussed , but could someone answer the following. I have an E7 Meter (confirmed with electric supplier) and get charged E7 rates, BUT I use E10 hrs ie 5 at night 3 Afternoon 2 Evening. Very happy with rates etc.
However just changed supplier on same basis and now they want to change over to a SMART METER.
The question is, will my hours revert to E7 (ie 7hrs at night) as I understand the Meter controls the hours and not a separate bit of equipment.
I have been on this arrangement for years and it suits me. I want E10 hours , but obviously restricted in suppliers.

It will likely change. What you have is unique, so you need to protect it.

Just refuse the smart meter and carry on as usual.

Did you know the most competitive standard tariff is usually cheaper than the average E10 tariff?

You can use electricity at any time of the day for less than you pay with no restrictions on when you can use it. Whilst your rate gives you cheaper usage for 10 hours of the day compared to your "normal" rate the best standard tariff on the market is usually around about the same as the "low" rate on your tariff.

For example SSE 1 Year Fixed v6 Paperless Billing charges 8.73p for ALL units used (in my area).

Ovo is the cheapest E10 supplier I've found and they charge 7.49p for "low" usage and 13.22p for "normal" usage (again in my area).

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

In this case Happy, the OP is getting E10 but only paying for E7. If true, its a bit of a special case and probably worth protecting.
