He's busy being the new boy, trying to get settled, needing support and allies. Be friendly and welcoming, if they remember you from before then make light of it, but no need to bring it up0

I've been in this exact position, thought it'd be weird but they brought it up first and we had a bit of a laugh about it.
She said she was really glad she didn't give me the job I'd interviewed for as she was happy to be working with me in the job I'd stayed in.

So quick update for everyone, he started today and we got introduced.
He seems as if he either doesn't remember me or is being polite enough not to bring it up.
Hopefully it's all OK now.

This sort of thing regularly happens in business. It's a small world and the same faces regularly pop up.
I wouldn't worry about it. At least you'll have something in common. Maybe you had a lucky escape by not getting that job if your interviewer was so keen the leave.0
