They will do the same credit check even if you don't apply for an overdraft and this wont be 'soft'. It can be seen for 12 months on credit reports.Mortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0

Nobody should give false details when applying for a bank account.

Your employer has a legal obligation to provide you with a P60 this month, showing what you earned in the last tax year. If you have been working there since March 2015 or before, simply use the figure from that. If you started more recently, take an average of the last three months payslips and multiply by 12. I had no problems opening a Classic Plus with an income <£10k.0

Thanks for all the replies.
I was surprised when someone posted that only a soft search is done if you don't apply for an overdraft.
IIRC when filling out the online application, the option to request an overdraft only appeared after the agreement to a credit search (I declined an overdraft anyway).
I gave a best estimate of my likely average monthly income and did not knowingly submit a fraudulent figure. In my situation, last years P60 simply reflects that year and may not be any more of an accurate prediction for the coming months.
My application was successful, although I was required to present two forms of ID (photo and current bill showing address) at a branch beforehand. Presumably as the credit check failed to turn up enough recorded financial data associating me with my address. Reassuring in a way, but a bit of a pain. I have to say, I was impressed with my local TSB branch facilities and the standard of customer service I received, so much so I'm strongly considering switching my regular banking to them in full now.
Cheers :beer:0 -
I have a full time contract but am pro-rata, I work what hours I want due to health and HB penalises me for more earnings - 50% earnings, I declare what my contract states because that is my earning potential from my only employment.
I am not penalised for such by my employer, why should a financial institution penalise me ? I pay all my commitments on time, every time.
I am no risk for the computer to say no I am, because the software is not programmed with the Disability Discrimination Act just financial risk, my risk is high I suppose but to programme software to say because I am disabled I am a higher financial risk would be discriminative in itself.
My disability only effects directly insurance products.
I am not making a false declaration, I am working less than contracted and that is my absolute right and decision to do so, not a computers.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... This. I always tick the "I don't want an overdraft" option but it showed numerous credit checks when I applied for a bunch 1 month with Experian warning me about such a big volume in a short space of time...presumably they wouldn't warn this about soft searches
I dont ask for a OD either, but most tell me after online checks and acceptance "you have been approved with £xxxx overdraft, would you like to accept this offer" or some say choose a lower or a higher amount.
NWide done it most recently with a FlextDirect account...no overdraft wanted or offered but after checks and Flex approval it said you have been approved for a NWide Select Credit Card with a £3500 credit limit with 12 months 0% purchases/cash advance and asked me would you like to accept this offer.
Of course I would! Stooze!!
It is not a great system to be honest, banks want to make money at the cost of encouraging people to get out of hand in debt, to sell the debt on later of defaulting. Crazy system, personal recessions = national and global recessions. Never mind though, the fat cats are winning! :eek:SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies...
