Flying stones on motorway

Same thing happened to me a couple of years back. I think mine was the second car in 30 minutes. They gave me a form with the insurance details for the local council that was preprinted. They said it happens all the time.
Felt like an explosion in the car at the time but autoglasss had patched it up within the hour and glass arrived and was replaced in a couple of days.0 -

Or how about the mesh is actually attached to the strimmer. to encircle it? You could see through the mesh to see what you're cutting but would stop stones pinging off everywhere. Wouldn't clog with grass, etc either.0 -
I had this happen to me. I stopped the car immediately, got the details of the operative, asked him to call his office on my phone, where we filled in an incident report over the phone. The window was replaced by auto glass, and was organised by them. The operative was cutting with a strimmer quite near to the road, which had a lot of gravel. He should not have been using it in that area.Loving the sunny days!0

Something else that is impossible to see is a stone that has been picked up by the wheels of a lorry on the opposite carriageway and propelled forward into the windscreen of your car.
No warning, who has been negligent in that case?
Everyone wants someone to blame and someone else to pay.......!!!!!! happens.
I'm trying to imagine the physics that would cause a stone to be thrown forwards from a lorry on the opposite carriageway.0 -
