Flex Direct application process ? ID ?

I applied online for a flex direct account and it said that i may need to provide ID. I received 2 emails from nationwide the first saying about id and then the next day i received another email saying the application had been accepted. Ive since received a letter containing my debit cards pin number for the account and it says the card is on its way and will arrive in a couple of days. However today I've now received a letter asking for ID.
Just wondering if anyone went through a similar thing when opening one of these accounts and if i still need to provide ID seeing as the account has been opened and I've already been sent a PIN number and have a debit card for the account on the way.
Read a few conflicting posts on the topic with some people providing ID and others not needing to ?

If they ask for proofs, do what the ask. Send copies or visit a branch.0

If you are an existing customer and have previously provided documents then you can safely ignore the request. Otherwise, you should do as they ask.0

I had the same. Accepted and then asked to provide ID. By the time the weekend came around to go into town to get to the branch, I had received either my card or pin or something so knew I didn't need to go into branch. Leave it until the weekend if you can and see if anything arrives. If not then pop into branch with your docs0

With regards the OP I had the same email. I just went into the branch and showed my ID, it was painless and no appointment necessary.
With regards FlexDirect current account. When you make an application for the current account and get accepted do they auto apply you for online banking as well? I ask because in one of the emails I have got saying "Welcome to your FlexDirect account" it has a link to sign up to online banking. However when I follow that link and fill out the application for online banking it says I have already applied?? I have not already applied but maybe the stuff will come automatically?0 -

Have you ever had any accounts with them before? If so, their system will remember your BS number and just put in your old detail and et voila. If you haven't then as I can't remember that far back I can't be of much use but it took me a wee while to work out what was going on with my other halfs until I remembered they had an account years ago so needed to use their old membership number.0 -

Yes but it was a MYSAVE account which has long been closed. I believe they are a different system and don't use card readers for one. Nonetheless I tried my details and they did not work.If you haven't then as I can't remember that far back I can't be of much use but it took me a wee while to work out what was going on with my other halfs until I remembered they had an account years ago so needed to use their old membership number.0
