Hi guys, I'm really a newbie here. Hope i 've read the threads carefully enough, before the post :) This is the first private parking ticket i've dealt with, so I decided to post it here and keep upgrade the progress.

Basically, the driver of the car (not to reveal the driver:D) found a windscreen ticket from UKPC when parking at a Screwfix store outside its working hours last Saturday. The ticketed says the parking exceeded the maximum time of stay and needed to pay a charge of £100 (reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days.)

The sign is too small to see for a driver (especially the time limit) and no sign was shown at the entrance of the car park. Will attach a pic of the sign later.

ATM, i'm trying to write a email to the CEO of Screwfix and waiting for the NTK. Will appeal to UKPC later (25 days?). Hope i'm doing things in the correct order. Cheers :)

Update: I decided to add a summary to the post as it is now messed up. Please refer to post 52: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/71320697#Comment_71320697

do screwfix have a good window display?

why should the CEO of screwfix be bothered , he wants his car park cleared at nights.

this is not a 10 min overstay on a supermarket or an out of bay charge , the signage will have read parking for customers DURING working hours

I'm guessing this is a car park on a multi-occupancy retail estate because I've never heard of Screwfix using a PPC. Screwfix is owned by B & Poo, who famously kicked ParkingEye out of all their own car parks.

Yes wait for the NTK before appealing, they might screw it up. IMO there is no legitimate interest (per Beavis) to protect by enforcing time limits when the shops are shut.

Ignore pappa golf, he famously gets the wrong end of the stick, and it seems he failed to notice where you clearly stated "The ticketed says the parking exceeded the maximum time of stay".

Regardless of anything, follow the NEWBIES thread advice. Wait until day 25 ish then send in the template appeal AS KEEPER.

Do NOT wait for the NTK ... appeal as keeper to the NTD (windscreen ticket) ... that way UKPC tend to forget to even send an NTK = no keeper liability anyway. ;)

Don't wait for the NTK but do as bod says; appeal around day 25 just like it tells you in the NEWBIES Sticky thread.

    Some reading:

UKPC are former clampers who have been involved in quite a number of sordid scams, for example

Hull Trading Standards took them to court on 15 counts of fraud. UKPC won all but one, but only because they had a better lawyer, a Q.C. If I recall correctly

Can't see those images for some reason but I've seen their pale signs before and the best evidence re the signs is their own photo, which you can find on their website which always shows an illegible jumble of pale blue words on a white sign high up on a pole/in a corner. You can use that at POPLA stage as part of that appeal.

With UKPC the answer is always to appeal using the NEWBIES thread appeal template around day 26, online to UKPC and never to wait for the NTK first. Only choose 'registered keeper' on the dropdown menu and ignore any letter UKPC then send that doesn't have the POPLA code and isn't a rejection letter (i.e. they often send a letter asking for further info - NOPE!).

You want to time them out so they forget to even serve a NTK as they are so busy rejecting your appeal they overlook it.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
