bathroom sink damaged by limescale removal

Did a really silly thing this morning and managed to damage our bathroom sink :(

I scrubbed around the plug hole, trying to get rid of the limescale that had accumulated, and it's also got rid of the top coating on the sink, leaving circular grey lines.

Is there anything I can do to repair the damage? Anything I can use to paint over it or re-coat it?

From that picture it doesn't look like damage.
    Is the surface still smooth?

Try polishing off the grey lines with Cif or something similar.

Maybe not a great photo, but yes the surface is damaged, unfortunately.

I live in a hard water area, and decided to de-scale the loo and sink this morning. The loo was fine, but the sink got damaged when I tried scraping the limescale off.
  • Put the plug in,pour on some neat bleach covering the grey and leave overnight.I would use thin bleach and not toilet cleaner bleach.
If you want to smooth up the finish try some cutting product (T cut or non branded)

Would bleach be ok to use as the sink drainer is metal ?

I have got some thin bleach so am happy to give it a try. I wouldn't be surprised if the metal bit is plated (but not sure). Don't know if that will make a difference?

You haven't scratched or damaged the porcelain glaze. It is almost impossible to scratch.

You have marked it. Go to a plumbers merchants and as for a 'Porcelain eraser/rubber' This is what professionals use to remove these kind of marks.

Really? I hope you're right! We rent our property and I don't want to have to pay for a replacement sink :o

I will look for a bath rubber then, thankyou :)
