ballast, wicks vs b&q vs selco

Options
wickes £1.75 (buy 5 to get this price)
b&q £1.70 (trade discount)
selco 20mm £2.70

all prices include vat.

what is the best ballast for making custom cast paving slabs? Why is selco so much more expensive than these diy stores caterned to non-trade?

never mind. The reviews on wickes and b&qs own website says there is very little aggregate on their ballast and the pictures look very sandy. I will stick to selco and pay the premium. Note: selco have London pricing on receuipt so probably cheaper elsewhere in the country.

Be careful here. 20mm aggregate is the wrong product, and unsuitable for making paving slabs. Yes you can use it, but expect either a poor finish, or cracking slabs or more likely both.
