Can a kitchen installer put in a gas hob?

I really need a new kitchen but this year's budget is earmarked for a garden makeover and new patio so I am looking at just getting a new gas hob and counter top at present.
I have seen a gas hob I like on Amazon and am wondering about how to proceed with getting it installed. It is not the same size (lengthwise) as my existing gas hob so I would also need a new counter top along that side of the kitchen and have it fitted there. It would be in the same place as the existing hob just a bit smaller.
I have been recommended a kitchen fitter, is this something I could reasonably ask him to do or do I need a heating engineer and a fitter?
While I am here, can anyone recommend a cheap source of beech veneer worktops.

There is no reason why he shouldn't be able to physically fit the hob into the worktop but unless he is GasSafe registered, he won't be allowed to connect it up to the gas supply.
However, I would be very surprised if he doesn't have someone that he uses for jobs such as this as is must be quite a common occurence for any kitchen fitter.0 -
I fitted my own gas hob and paid a gas safe engineer £60 to connect it up and give me a certificate.0
